The First Holy Communion is one of the highlights of our Catholic faith. It is a big deal for us. It is an achievement. It is a milestone. For Catholic girls/ladies/women, the first holy communion is the second time we get to wear white dress in front of the altar. The third, hopefully, would be if we go for a religious or married life. Unless, one gets married more than once.
Just last weekend, we celebrated the first holy communion of our dear Stella Maris. It was first scheduled last May but it was moved due to the pandemic our nation is going through. Therefore, it was observed in a pretty unusual way. The communicants has been waiting for this to happen and their desire to experience it was prolonged for another four months. In my end, every now and then, I would remind Stella the essence of receiving the body & blood of Jesus Christ. I would let her read the pamphlet that she got to help her prepare for it. I also made sure she went to her second reconciliation before this week happened.
I am not really sure what are her thoughts about it. I could say she is excited about it. I might have pushed her a little bit but I saw how she studied her notes. I even caught her writing them down. I might not be exactly on-point of what she understood about the sacrament, I hope and I pray that I have done my part of introducing her to a higher level of her Catholic faith.
I am delighted to see her grow in her faith. I am very proud of her. I know and believe that she will continue to be transformed in ways I cannot comprehend through the Holy Communion. All thanksgiving, glory, and praise to God for this Holy Sacrament. For allowing us to partake at His banquet and increase our faith as we continue to receive Him in the form of bread and wine.
Matthew 26:26-28, While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
